Residence Time Charts

 

When comparing separation between the various CINC model centrifuges a primary comparison is g*seconds or the amount of g-force, which is determined by rotor speed and diameter of the rotor and the residence time or number of seconds the fluid is within the separation zone of the rotor. The residence time is governed by flow rate for a particular model centrifuge using the charts below.

 

For example if tests are performed on a Model V02 and the g*seconds are determined based upon rotor speed and residence time whn scaling up the goal would be to match the g force (based on rotor speed) and residence time.
